The Second Annual Humane Race was
Even Better Than the First!

The second annual running of The Humane Race 5K & "Dog Jog" is now in the record books. (See list of winners below.)

The weather looked ominous, and we had a couple minutes of drizzle before the race began, but during the race the skies held off and several racers said they preferred the cool and moist weather to the hot & sunny conditions of the previous day. The course was in excellent condition and several runners who ran last year improved their time by a minute or more this time.

We had 124 registered racers participate, along with 54 dogs and loads of spectators. (See the photos!) That's 60% more runners and more than double the dogs from last year! Let's hope we grow just as much next year!

This year, The Humane Race raised over $4,000 in cash for the new Berkshire Humane Society shelter, plus more than $700 worth of super-premium dog food donated to the BHS by our sponsor, Wellness Pet Foods.

We also gave out over $1,000 worth of prizes, T-shirts, and bandanas to our runners and their dogs.
