BHS is rated 4-stars by Charity Navigator

The First Annual Humane Race was a Huge Success!

The first annual running of The Humane Race 5K & "Dog Jog" is now in the record books. (See complete Race Results.)

We had a glorious morning with blue skies and temperatures in the 50's at race time. By the time the runners were sitting around enjoying a post-race snack, listening to the band ("Subject to Change"), and receiving their prizes, temperatures had climbed into the mid-60's. The course was in excellent condition and all the runners (and their dogs) had loads of fun.

Almost 70 racers participated, along with almost 25 dogs. (See the photos!) We hope to at least double those numbers next year, so start spreading the word now!

The Humane Race raised over $3,000 in cash for the new Berkshire Humane Society shelter, plus another $500 worth of super-premium dog food donated to the BHS by our sponsors Wellness Pet Foods and Waggin' Tails. We also gave out over $1,500 worth of prizes, T-shirts, and bandanas to our runners and their dogs.

Please see the wonderful article about the race in the Williams Record written by Williams student and race volunteer MJ Prest. Thanks MJ!
